Phillips 66 is currently accepting applications for a Design Technician. The selected candidate will be part of a Small Projects Team working under the direction of a professional supervisor.
Responsibilities May Include
Prepare Design documents and drawings, bill of materials, enters material in SAP, and performs field and document research to produce detailed design IFC (Issue for Construction) packages.
Utilize sound design judgment in accordance with engineering and industry standards. In-depth understanding of the Refinery Engineering Practices (REPs)
Provide expertise to develop and generate detailed project work scopes and provides material and scope information for TIC (Total Installed Cost) estimates, as well as participates in FEL efforts.
Provides technical information in the field to support construction during pre-Turnaround, Turnaround, or other installations, as needed.
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
5 or more years of experience working as a Design Technician or similar role.
Associates degree in design or related field
Proficiency (perform skills with limited assistance) required in AutoCAD, CADWORKs, SAP, SPI for design deliverables
Able to work safely in an office and refinery environment
Ability to manage onsite contract designers as necessary
Ability to maintain 3D scanner and train designers in its use
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to follow standard operating procedures
Bachelor’s degree in design, or related field
7 or more years of experience in the oil and gas industry
The Sweeny Refinery is located in Old Ocean, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization, and aromatics units, as well as access to the on-site vacuum tower and delayed coking unit, which is an asset owned by Phillips 66 Partners. Sweeny processes heavy, high-sulfur crude oil and some light, low sulfur crude oil. Domestic, Canadian and other foreign crude oil is transported by truck, pipeline, marine transportation and terminals. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, heating oil and petroleum coke. The refinery receives crude oil by pipeline and via tankers, through terminals on the Gulf Coast, including a deepwater terminal at Freeport. Refined products are distributed throughout the Midcontinent region, southeastern and eastern United States by pipeline, barge and rail car. Refined products are also exported to Latin America by waterborne cargo.
