Legal Counsel

Basic Purpose/Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel (Commercial, Marketing, Midstream & Business Development), the Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to Phillips 66 offices in Singapore and Beijing in accordance with Phillips 66’s values, policies and practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
Advising on, reviewing, and drafting crude oil, refined products and renewable fuels trading contracts, charter parties, supply and storage agreements and related finance and commercial documentation
Identifying legal risks and advising local, regional, and global staff and management on applicable laws and regulations, internal policies and procedures
Advising on and handling disputes
Instructing and managing external counsel and specialists, where appropriate, to obtain cost effective advice
Advising on corporate and regulatory compliance issues
Basic/Required Qualifications:
Qualified lawyer (Singapore or England & Wales preferred, other common law jurisdictions considered)
5+ years Post-Qualification Experience
Experience advising on bills of lading, voyage charterparties, laytime and demurrage, sale of goods and dispute resolution
Ability to communicate clear, concise advice in plain English to all levels of seniority
High level of attention to detail
Self-motivated and comfortable with a high level of responsibility
Preferred Skills:
In-house or secondment experience in an energy trading business
Experience advising on bribery and data privacy
