Description
The Process Control System Engineer is responsible for: Maintaining the process control system at the refinery. Advocate for best practices in the selection, implementation, and maintenance of the process control system asset base to ensure that regulatory, production, and optimization objectives are met. The Process Control Systems Engineer will support projects by integrating into a multi-disciplinary project team.
Responsibilities may include
Serve as the primary point of contact to troubleshoot, analyze, and provide direction to safely resolve process control system problems.
Responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Process Control Network (PCN) for a large refinery.
Provide technical support for regulatory control, Advanced Regulatory Control (ARC), Advanced Process Control (APC), and logic problems in the refinery. This includes control configuration/ programming, operator training and documentation.
Maintain process control system turnaround work lists as well as maintain an ongoing control system priority work list.
Create or revise routine and preventive maintenance procedures for process control systems.
Develop, implement and maintain software applications on the process control system network.
Support process control systems hardware and software maintenance/upgrades, including on/off process migrations.
Support PCN IT activities such as Microsoft Windows network administration, implementing OS patches, user account maintenance, anti-virus updates, security policy administration, switch maintenance and upgrades, and system performance auditing.
Support graphics development and maintenance.
Provide support to Controls Modernization and Automation Projects involving process control system specification, hardware and software design, testing, graphics, commissioning, start-up and documentation.
Work closely with Operations Department to ensure reliability of process operation, graphics and control through daily monitoring of systems performance.
Required qualifications
Bacherlors Degree or higher in Engineering
10 or more years of process controls experience
5 or more years Honeywell controls systems experience
Must be legally authorized to work in job posting country
Must possess a valid driver's license
Preferred qualifications
Experience with Honeywell Control Systems (TDC3000 and Experion) hardware and configuration
Excellent planning, organizing, written and oral communication skills. Able to accurately and clearly communicate both technical and practical information
Proven ability to meet project schedules and costs with minimal supervision
Experience with plant start-up and troubleshooting of process control system and operational problems
Knowledge and experience with acceptance testing and commissioning of instrument equipment and systems
Experience with VMWare administration and maintenance is preferred
Additional experience with Microsoft OS and network systems is a plus
The Ponca City Refinery is located in Ponca City, Oklahoma, approximately 95 miles northwest of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Its facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, medium and heavy crude oil delivered via pipeline from Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, the U.S. Rockies and Canada. Infrastructure improvements have enabled the delivery of locally produced crude oil by pipeline and truck. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels and anode-grade petroleum coke. Refined products are primarily distributed to customers by company-owned and common carrier pipelines to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
