The Ga s Lab Technician based out of Odessa, TX., works independently and with others to perform lab analysis on natural gas samples. They run the analysis on gas chromatographs (GC) and document then distribute the results.
Responsibilities May Include
Able to receive samples and ship empty cylinders back to their origin after running analysis.
Ensuring timely turn around on all received samples, especially at month end.
Understanding the methods of analysis for natural gas liquids.
Having working knowledge of laboratory tests and procedures used to monitor and to certify products.
Maintaining all test gasses required for GC use.
Maintaining and schedule all preventative maintenance for the GC units.
Working with management and project group to define and prioritize measurement improvement projects associated with samples and analysis.
Interfacing with other internal, external and third-party industry measurement related contacts/resources.
Working closely with the Loss Control group on issues that relate to measurement accuracy of natural gas liquids.
Driving measurement and analysis improvements and processes.
Self-Starter that is willing to seek out additional job duties under own guidance.
Working up projects and seeking agreement for possible inclusion into future Budgets.
Reviewing and participating in testing of new analysis technology with outside vendors to maintain accuracy in line with current industry technological developments.
Participating in the development of Phillips 66’s Analysis Plans for the phase out of obsolescent technology and implementation of new technologies to ensure analysis processes adequately support the operational and financial needs of the company.
Ensuring implementation of system upgrades.
Ensuring roll-out and implementation of new analysis initiatives and policies and procedures.
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Maintain a valid driver's license
2 or more years of experience in a measurement technician role
To raise and transport articles weighing up to 40 pounds
To walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain
To wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
To be on call
Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation, or Industrial Electronics
2 or more years of experience in gas chromatographs (GC) operations and maintenance 1 or more years industry I&E experience
1 or more years of experience with GC’s and GC documentation of results
Familiar with API natural gas sampling requirements
Working knowledge of API measurement standards
Leadership ability in safety, environmental and regulatory practices
Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
