The Mechanical Technician, Long Beach, CA is responsible for performing maintenance and repair on pipeline pump station and terminal equipment, which includes electric motors, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, tank mixers, meters, valves, and other mechanical-related equipment. conduct routine pipeline maintenance, eliminate, and report product leaks, seeps, and spills, as well as assist with construction projects. The position will maintain qualifications and record documentation in accordance with all applicable DOT and OSHA regulations to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient performance of maintenance and operation activities in accordance with Company standards and regulatory guidelines to include company policies, procedures, and directives.

  • Perform testing, troubleshooting and commission of with equipment such as burners, flares, thermal oxidizers, boiler burners and vapor recovery systems.

  • Diagnosing any mechanical, vibration, flow, or efficiency problems.

  • Performing and providing technical support for installations, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and rotating equipment As well as preventive and corrective maintenance on various types of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.

  • Prior experience Working on all types of industrial, electrical and electronic equipment including, but not limited to motors, valves, actuators, transmitters and PLC equipment

  • Performing work on air pollution control equipment

  • Performing planned/ preventative maintenance checks and calibration and timely submits appropriate reports.

  • Responding to emergencies and participate in Emergency Response Training.

  • Completing and maintaining required safety/regulatory training, as well as obtain all required OQ’s on assigned task

  • Complying with all applicable DOT and OSHA regulations, and safety policies and procedures.

  • Writing procedures, instructions, training materials and safety and operating permits.

  • Identifying maintenance work and initiating work requests.

  • Training less experienced employees and overseeing the work of contract personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must maintain valid driver's license

  • 2 or more years’ experience with changing mechanical seals on ANSI and API multistage centrifugal pumps

  • 2 or more years’ experience complete pump tear down/rebuild inspections and new pump installations

  • 2 or more years’ experience pipeline valve maintenance and repair

Ability and willingness to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:

  • Climb various ladders and stairs 5 to 40 feet in height to operate valves, gauge tanks, or perform maintenance on equipment

  • Raise and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain as needed

  • Work outside in harsh weather conditions

  • Work alone a high percentage of the time

  • Make long commutes to work in a remote area

  • Travel at least 50% of the time

  • Be a available as needed for call outs

  • Wear fire-retardant clothing and other personal protective equipment, such as steel-toe shoes and ear and eye protection

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman’s Electrician License or Associates Degree in Applied Science, Electronics, Instrumentation, or equivalent

  • 4 or more years of maintenance/mechanical experience in oil and gas field operations or similar production environment

  • 4 or more years of experience with rotating equipment

  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; and SAP

  • Working knowledge of code requirements, including OSHA, Process Safety Management and Department of Transportation

  • Certified level 1 vibration analysis or willingness to attain Level 1 or higher certification

  • Experience working with electric digital and analog circuitry including drawings and schematics

  • Willingness to be trained to perform basic technical task such as Rosemount transmitter calibrations, Allen Bradley PLC’s, electrical motors, and starters, Rotork actuator installation and maintenance

Midstream

Phillips 66's Midstream business is a safe, reliable and trusted logistics provider for the movement and storage of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 22,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.

The pay range for this role is $112,700.00 to $131,100.00 depending on a candidate's relevant work experience and education.
