Basic Function

As part of the HR team, the HR Business Partner will have the opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, highly dynamic global organisation. The HRBP will provide business unit specific strategic and consultative services to line managers related to the people-related issues impacting their business areas. The London office consists of multiple business units, including Commercial, UK Marketing and Corporate Staffs groups, all part of a broader global organizational remit. The incumbent will work with peer HRBPs and Business leaders to ensure consistent people processes and practices across the groups. The incumbent will be expected to work independent of supervision, make recommendations for step-change improvement as well as develop solutions, and drive implementation as requested by the business leads and UK HRBP Manager

Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Provides advisory, execution, consultative tactical support to London Business Unit leaders in the areas of: staffing, employee relations, performance management, compensation promotion, benefits, diversity and relocation to ensure consistent processes and practices across the organization.

  • Serves as the first point of contact related to employee relations matters for all employees within your business unit

  • Ensures HR processes are consistent and in compliance across your business unit

  • Conducts investigations to resolve internal complaints, as necessary

  • Coordinates and provides guidance to management and supervisory employees regarding consistent progressive discipline

  • Creates and implements various policies and procedures for management review and approval

  • Participate on Talent Management Teams (TMT) activities for consistent application across the function, including identification of future leaders and bench strength and other career development processes/tools

  • Consults and supports supervisors regarding performance management, compensation, employee relations, training and development, talent and succession planning

  • Execute workforce plans and processes to enable the goals of the business

  • Executes Human Resources (HR) operational activities in conjunction with Human Resources Shared Services (HRSS)

  • Collaborates with Centers of Excellence including Recruiting and Staffing, Talent Management, Compensation and Benefits

Critical Skills/Leadership Criteria

  • Hold the legal right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis without restrictions, or meet the relevant criteria for employer sponsorship under the UK points-based immigration system

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline in which business knowledge and an understanding of human resource practices has been gained.

  • Experienced HR Business Partner, Generalist or HR Specialist with a proven track record of working independently across the broad spectrum of HR activities.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft software applications.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Knowledge of company policies, local labor laws and employment acts

  • Strong networking and collaborative skills

  • Ability to determine priority based upon HR and business needs

  • Clearly identifies accountabilities and communicates objectives

  • Results oriented, both individually and for a team; demonstrated ability to deliver key results on stretch goals

  • Demonstrated ability to exceed customer expectations and deliver on commitments

Phillips 66 has significant marketing operations in Europe. In the UK the business is primarily wholesale, selling fuels to distributors (some of whom are branded JET) and resellers. The fuels are either collected by customers or delivered through a contracted road tanker fleet operating out of a number of UK distribution points. In addition, Phillips 66 Limited supplies a network of approximately 330 independently owned petrol forecourts, all of which are branded JET.

Other markets served are aviation, marine and LPG. JET supplies some of the UK's growing secondary airports using owned and shared refuelling tankers and storage, and delivers to airlines through contracted refuelling operations. Marine markets are served using contracted vehicles, as is the LPG business.
