The responsibilities of the Metals Carpenter Team Lead are to supervise a group of hourly employees responsible for all Carpentry/Scaffolding tasks throughout the plant. This position reports to a second line supervisor, who is responsible for all carpentry work within the plant.
Responsibilities May Include
Being a safety leader and help implement a zero-incident culture.
Addressing safety issues within area and continuously promote joint jobsite visits and stop work authority.
Daily operating of your section providing support to the business teams.
Executing the Weekly Maintenance Schedule and communicate with Area Scheduler for any changes.
Managing emergency work including priority E and 1 job planning in accordance with the routine maintenance work process.
Constructively resolving priority and conflict issues with Operations, Planners and craft employees.
Acting as a single point-of-contact for Operations for carpentry work/scaffolding issues within an assigned business team.
Assisting in planning of manpower, material and equipment for routing maintenance, projects and turnarounds.
Providing overall carpentry work direction for the section including projects and turnarounds.
Proactively supporting and leading carpentry initiatives that support the business.
Being a leader in emergency response incident command system and procedures
Assisting in training objectives and development of training course content, format, and presentation methods as necessary.
Enforcing company policies, procedures and labor contracts.
Ensuring employees maintain current training (CBT’s).
Coordinating work activities with other crafts such as Metals, Electrical, Instrument, etc.
Arranging overtime & off-hour coverage for employees and contractors as required.
Must be legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Valid driver's license
High school Diploma or GED
5 or more years of experience in the refining, petrochemical, and/or related industries
Wear Nomex fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear, and eye protection)
Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven).

Associates degree or Bachelor degree
8 or more years of experience in the maintenance /construction field in a refinery, petrochemical or chemical industry
1 or more years of experience as a supervisor or equivalent industry supervisor experience
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
Interpersonal skills to handle a work group in a unionized work force
Well-developed planning and organizational skills including the ability to work independently, prioritize activities, meet commitments, and proactively manage time and generally manage a heavy workload
Ability to effectively communicate and train maintenance personnel
Able to solve a broad range of complex problems
Defining and measuring business contribution and progress through metrics
Investigating, documenting and providing solutions based on root cause analysis methodology
Ability to recognize hazards, assess risk and suggest an appropriate mitigation plan
Strong written and oral skills
Strong computer skills including proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Office: Excel and Word
Provide training, communications strategies, and resource assistance during audits with work group and various business units
The Bayway Refinery is located on the New York Harbor in Linden, New Jersey. Bayway's facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, solvent deasphalting, hydrodesulfurization and alkylation units. The complex also includes a polypropylene plant with the capacity to produce up to 775 million pounds per year. The refinery processes mainly light and medium, low-sulfur crude oil. Foreign crude oil is supplied to the refinery by tanker, and domestic crude oil is supplied through a combination of rail and marine transportation. Within the refinery, Phillips 66 Partners has a rail receiving facility with 75,000 BPD of offloading capacity. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petrochemical feedstocks, residual fuel oil and home heating oil. Refined products are distributed to East Coast customers by pipeline, barge, rail car and truck.
