Description

The SysOps Storage Engineer/Administrator’s primary role is the support and administration of virtualized Unix environments in both on-prem and Cloud/AWS configurations. The role also requires a broad knowledge of the infrastructure technology stack including Operating Systems (Windows and RedHat Linux), VMWare, Network, and Cloud strategies (AWS/Azure). The role exists to provide 24x7 operational monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution coordination for the company’s on-premise and cloud-hosted storage infrastructure. In addition, this role will be integral in operationalizing our Containers technology and providing operational support for Containers to DevOps and Service Delivery teams.

This position can be based in either Bartlesville, Oklahoma or Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Perform hardware and software installations, upgrades, and maintenance

  • Provide technical assistance with installation of third-party software

  • Maintain documentation for all related software, hardware, and procedures

  • Build and maintain virtual servers on IBM pSeries, VMware platforms, and in Cloud environments

  • Support IBM AIX, SuSE Linux, RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu and Solaris

  • Maintain operational stability while enforcing security controls

  • Create advanced shell scripts for automating various operating system/software functions

  • Utilize automation tools such as Chef, Terraform, Ansible, or similar

  • Assist in upgrading, installing, and configuring cloud solutions for Windows and Linux servers

  • Manage development repositories, build automation and application deployment activities

Position Requirements

Basic/Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5 or more years of supporting IBM AIX, SuSE Linux, RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu or Solaris

  • Knowledge of both on-prem and Cloud flavors of Unix, x86/Intel environments, Storage Area Networks, and Disaster Recovery strategies

  • Working knowledge of networking concepts and moderate shell scripting experience

  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people effectively

  • Demonstrated experience successfully delivering complex initiatives, meeting quality and time expectations

  • Must be able to communicate at a highly technical level in order to work effectively with peers and other I/T staff

  • Available to participate in a rotational 24x7 on-call support team

  • Knowledge of DevOps processes

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology technical field

  • One or more Microsoft or Amazon cloud certifications

  • Experience with at least one configuration technology including: Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, etc

  • 1 or more years of relevant hands-on cloud experience in administering Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure

  • Experience implementing, migrating, managing, and operating systems/applications in an enterprise cloud computing environment

  • Experience supporting SAP R/3, Oracle or other large Enterprise platforms

  • Experience with network and/or systems administration in Linux/Unix and/or Windows

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally

  • Energetic, motivated and calm under pressure

  • Ability to work in team environment on assigned tasks and large projects
