Description
The Electrician - Borger Refinery is responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, and replacement of industrial electrical equipment and systems in a Refinery. The starting rate of pay for an Electrician depends on the candidate's skill level after completion of assessments and may range from $32.89 with the ability to reach top craft pay within 24 months which is currently $44.84.
This position requires successful completion of aptitude, behavioral and skills testing and an on-site interview. Candidates who receive an offer of employment will then be required to successfully complete a pre-employment due diligence process that consists of things like a background check, medical, hearing, respiratory and vision exams and agility testing.

Responsibilities May Include
Installation, testing, and commissioning of new or repaired electrical equipment.
Ensuring daily that all electrical equipment and systems support the operating requirements in all areas including safety, quality, productivity, capacity and reliability.
Troubleshooting and solving electrical problems safely following safe work practices and using the appropriate tools and personal protective equipment.
Using computer maintenance management system for equipment documentation information.
Position Requirements
Basic/Required:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
Willingness to comply with the following:
Work at least an 8-hour shift and up to a 12-hour shift, which includes some weekends, holidays and nights
Available for on-call responsibilities
Work overtime
Climb up to 250 feet in height
Learn computer software associated with process operations
Lift up to 50 pounds
Maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
Perform firefighting duties
Read at a level to understand written safety procedures, work procedures, work permits and instruction manuals
Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection)
Work around chemicals, including acids and bases
Work in enclosed spaces, such as tanks and silos
Work near large, hot, high-speed machines
Work outside in harsh weather conditions
Work with petroleum products that are under high pressure and heat
Working knowledge of industrial and commercial electrical systems
Working knowledge of the NEC and NFPA7OE
Willingness to work safely on or around 120 volts up to 15kV
Preferred:
Technical certification in Electrical Maintenance (or higher) OR minimum of 2 years of directly applicable equivalent experience
Associate’s degree in electrical technology
2 or more years of military experience working with electricity or electronics
2 or more years of electrical experience working in a refinery, oilfield, and/or chemical industry setting
Experience with SAP's Maintenance Module
Evaluate and improve our processes for uptime and reliability
Working knowledge of substation maintenance
Working knowledge of industrial UPS and DC systems
The Borger Refinery is located in Borger, Texas, in the Texas Panhandle, approximately 50 miles north of Amarillo, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units, as well as an NGL fractionation facility. The refinery processes primarily medium sour crude oil produced locally, and heavy sour crude oil produced in Canada, all of which are delivered by pipeline. Borger produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petroleum coke, NGLs and solvents. Refined products are distributed to customers via pipelines from the refinery to West Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and the Midcontinent region.
