The Metalworker Supervisor reports directly to the Maintenance Superintendent and works closely with Maintenance Planning, Scheduling and Area Operations Supervision to coordinate routine maintenance tasks while providing supervision to the Refinery Metalworker craft.
The primary responsibility for the Metalworker Supervisor is to provide direct supervision of Refinery Metalworker craft, ensuring they execute their work in the safest manner possible while supporting the plant in accordance with the Billings Refinery goals and the Routine Maintenance Work Process. The person in this position must have a positive influence in how routine maintenance is conducted in their area of responsibility across the plant and must be able to work safely, effectively, and efficiently with all functions in the plant.
Responsibilities May Include
Demonstrating commitment to safety through exemplary leadership in personal responsibility for safety as well as the safety of others.
Implementing and applying Safe Work Practices as well as the Refinery safety program.
Ensuring accountability for safety is understood at a personal level for the direct reports.
Administering, with hR and the Maintenance Superintendent, the company responsibility in the USW collective bargaining agreement contract as it applies to Maintenance personnel.
Providing coaching, mentoring, training, and leadership to develop personnel strengths and to address personnel issues effectively and in a timely manner.
Coaching peers and Operations Leads in compliance with the Routine Maintenance Work Process.
Assigning maintenance resources according to plant priority and maintenance schedules.
Supporting Maintenance Superintendent in budget development and provide accountability for responsible spending management and cost control.
Innovating and challenging to find the safest way to get work done and to identify and implement improvements, targeting best in class maintenance performance.
Providing timely solutions to challenging maintenance issues.
Supporting Turnaround, Projects, and personnel in their execution of maintenance activities.

High School Diploma/GED equivalent
Able to demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude

3 or more years of direct supervisor experience in Refining Maintenance
5 or more years of experience in maintenance, fabrication, installation, and troubleshooting for equipment in the Oil and Gas Industry
Associates Degree or higher in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management, and/or related field
Working knowledge of SAP for Maintenance Management
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
The Billings Refinery is located in Billings, Montana. Its facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of Canadian heavy, high-sulfur crude oil delivered by pipeline, and domestic crude oil delivered by truck. With the startup of a new vacuum distillation unit in 2017, the refinery has 100 percent heavy crude processing capability. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels and petroleum coke. Finished petroleum products are distributed by pipeline, rail car and truck. Pipelines transport most of the refined products to markets in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Colorado and Washington.
