The Civil Engineer provides technical support in designing and maintaining civil structures in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. This position is responsible for designing, engineering and overseeing the installation of projects in accordance with code, regulatory and company standards.
Responsibilities May Include
Designing of small steel and concrete structures in and around the refinery.
Designing of pump foundations meeting API 683 requirements.
Evaluating of existing structures and foundations.
Developing of repair plan for existing structures and foundations.
Designing of pipe supports.
Coordinating soil surveys with outside firms and relaying information to project teams.
Understanding of soil properties such as slope stability and compaction to aid in project execution.
Designing of drainage culverts.
Working with Design group on both expense and capital projects.
Working with individual unit mechanical maintenance engineers for resolving field issues.
Working with team reviewing Civil and Structural Refinery Engineering Practices (REPs).
Overseeing surveying for design projects including tanks under API 653.
Reviewing calculations and design of outside vendors and third-party engineering firms.
QA/QC checking of design packages involving civil/structural projects.
Overseeing/reviewing contractor structural and foundation designs.
Providing technical support to various teams within the plant (maintenance, turnaround, capital projects, etc.).
Evaluating design projects to ensure code and company requirements are met, and that long-term solutions are incorporated into design packages.
Providing front-end engineering to design projects.
Supporting field construction.
Ability to provide practical civil/structural solutions.

Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Bachelor's Degree in Civil – Structural Engineering
5 or more years Civil – Structural Engineering experience

Professional Engineer license
7 or more years of Civil – Structural Engineering experience
Intermediate proficiency working in AutoCAD
Working knowledge of UBC, IBC, API, ACI, ASME, NESC, ASTM, AISC, EU and BS Standards
The Alliance Refinery is located on the Mississippi River in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, approximately 25 miles southeast of New Orleans, Louisiana. The singletrain facility includes crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization, aromatics and delayed coking units. It processes mainly light and medium, low-sulfur crude oil. The refinery receives domestic crude oil through a combination of pipelines, marine transportation and terminals. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, home heating oil and anodegrade petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed to customers in the southeastern and eastern United States through major pipeline systems and by barge. Refined products are exported primarily to Latin America by waterborne cargo.
