Phillips 66 Reliability Technician in Bartlesville, Oklahoma

This Reliability Technician position is in the Equipment Reliability Group performing predictive testing, inspections and maintenance (ITM) on critical equipment. The job includes the creation of maintenance plans that contain the tasks to be performed and the frequency of the tasks. It requires a good understanding of the equipment being tested and the troubleshooting skills to recognize potential problems and failures. The job requires some travel to other Phillips 66 facilities to perform work, 10% travel is required.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Performing Air Borne Ultrasound Inspections on Electrical and Mechanical.

  • Assisting with Fire Alarm and Fire Sprinkler ITM's.

  • Testing and inspecting Steam Traps.

  • Testing and inspecting Personnel Monitoring devices.

  • Assisting with the inspections of generators and automatic Transfer Switches.

  • Performing Ground Penetrating Radar scans.

  • Assisting with troubleshooting of electrical and instrument equipment.

  • Routinely building reports for customers and have one on one communications with them defining the results and a proper plan of action.

  • Managing contractors preforming PMs on various facilities equipment on site.

  • Assisting in setting up PM plans as needed for customers to best fit their needs (field documentation as well as computer documentation).

  • Being in constant communication with customers and contractors about PMs that affect their groups (example-planning shut-downs or outages for PMs).

  • Attending monthly safety meeting and complete required yearly safety training

  • Participating in a team work environment to achieve common goals of safe work, time management and customer satisfaction.

  • Ordering and purchasing materials as needed for PM related work.

Position Requirements


  • High school diploma or G.E.D

  • Have a valid driver's license

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Willing and able to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:

  • To work overtime

  • To travel 10% of the time

  • To work in enclosed spaces, such as tanks and silos

  • To work near large, hot, high-speed machines

  • To work at various heights and climb ladders

  • To walk, kneel and squat

  • To work standing for a two (2) hour period

  • To climb up to 250 feet in height

  • To lift a minimum of 50 pounds

  • To work around chemicals, including acids and bases

  • To wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection)

  • To maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)

  • To work outside in harsh weather conditions

  • To learn computer software associated ITM programs

  • Willing to cross train for other Reliability Services such as Ultrasound, Vibration Analysis and Ground Scanning.

  • Must live within 50 miles of the Bartlesville complex for emergency response purposes

  • Ability to read at a level to understand written safety procedures, work procedures, work permits, electrical drawings and instruction manuals.

  • Ability to stop any work at any time there is a concern for own or coworker’s safety


  • Level 1 Infrared Thermography training/certification

  • Air Borne Ultrasound training/certification

  • Vibration Analysis training/certification

  • Ground penetrating radar/scanning training/ certification

  • Fire alarm experience

  • Fire Sprinkler experience

  • Relief valve and steam trap experience

  • Oklahoma State Electrical or Mechanical license

  • Knowledge and experience of lTM’ s best maintenance practices

  • Proficiency in computer usage, basics including e-mail and Windows
