Description

The Compute Analyst is a Windows/UNIX/Cloud subject matter expert and will help lead Cloud transformational activities within the Compute organization.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Serving as subject matter expert for Cloud management tools for the Compute landscape, including, but not limited to:

  • Chef

  • Terraform

  • Monitoring/Alerting (Cloud Native + integrations to Phillips 66’s security/incident management system)

  • Providing training/education to surrounding Business Solutions teams on using new cloud automation tools for deploying compute resources.

  • Acting as liaison for Business Solutions’ teams for using compute management tools within AWS/Azure as needed.

  • Acting as liaison/partner for Cloud Engineering to further drive upskilling of Cloud Administration skills within Compute team.

  • Evaluating existing application and database requirements for projects, design solutions that address business needs, and implements efficient and cost saving Cloud solutions.

  • Providing key technical data including, but not limited to, capacity planning, implementation, configuration, and usage reporting.

  • Monitoring log files, performance issues, and the production environment for mission critical systems

  • Participating in After-Hours on call rotation for the global Unix/Windows environments

  • Develop and promote standard operating procedures.

  • Engaging in continuous learning to stay abreast on new and emerging technologies that relate to the Unix/Windows/Cloud environments.

  • Conducting audits of Unix/Windows/Cloud servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows/Unix systems.

  • Maintaining and sustaining a highly automated server OS patching processes.

  • Participating in Follow the Sun support for global infrastructure servers.

Position Requirements

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • 2 or more years of experience with the AWS and Azure cloud providers.

  • 4 or more years of operating experience with the AIX, Redhat/Suse, or Windows Server operating systems, including architecture, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and problem solving

  • Willingness to teach others on how to use new technology/tools

  • Basic knowledge of network theory, design and architecture

  • Basic knowledge of storage technologies, design and architecture

  • Understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy and DFS

  • PowerShell scripting

  • Unix Shell Scripting (KSH, Bash, etc.)

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with shell scripting

  • Ability to work effectively across time zones and geography

  • Knowledge and experience with storage technologies in IBM, Pure, and/or EMC with features including:

  • SAN

  • FCP

  • NFS

  • SCSI

  • Deduplication

  • Block level replication

  • Ability to apply solutions, technology and products to a project or business opportunity
