Description

The Instrument Front Line Supervisor (FLS) is accountable to manage maintenance resources for their assigned area to achieve maintenance, safety, environmental and other business goals. The role of the FLS is to set appropriate expectations and drive routine maintenance field activities over their assigned area. They functionally manage the field crafts in their areas and report to the Instrumentation Superintendent. This role is a leader in maintenance execution, safety, environmental, schedule, and cost.

Responsibilities may include :

  • Responsible for the timely and proper execution of all instrumentation (instrument and analyzer) jobs relevant to their assigned areas
  • Assigning specific job tasks and sets execution expectations for his/her team, leads and participates in the daily craft meetings with his/her team
  • Monitoring and reporting on job quality, effectiveness and efficiency of all craft jobs, carrying out regular field follow-up visits to ensure work progress, clear barriers and to support/coach instrument and analyzer craftsmen
  • Ensuring craftsmen capture and report lost time incidents encountered during work executions, collecting the delay forms on a daily basis to be entered by the maintenance administrative assistant
  • Supporting the daily instrumentation needs of a large zone within the refinery by supervising craftsmen and working with instrument and analyzer technical support
  • Directing team of craftsmen and hold accountable the executing of the daily schedule, adherence to the maintenance process, and compliance safe work practices
  • Reviewing daily and weekly maintenance schedule in your area
  • Interfacing with Maintenance Schedulers, Instrumentation Team, and other Maintenance Supervisors to share resources and meet the highest priority needs of the refinery
  • Interfacing daily with Production Leaders, Operations Supervisors, Instrument Engineers, Instrument Senior Engineering Technicians (SETs), and Analyzer Specialists to assure that all maintenance related issues are managed correctly
  • Supporting Maintenance Planner and Maintenance Scheduler assigned to Maintenance Area and review status of work activities with both individuals throughout the day
  • Responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of SIS proof testing in their designated area
  • Providing maintenance execution expertise and information to Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Scheduler, and Instrument SET as needed
  • Working with Operations, Instrument Engineers, Instrument SETs, and Analyzer Specialists to identify root cause of failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Supporting Major Turnarounds, Minor Turnarounds, Pit Stops, Decokes, and Projects as needed for units in your Maintenance Area
  • Initialing maintenance contact for any unplanned Production Area shutdown, equipment failure, or unplanned need for instrumentation maintenance. Take action to expedite repairs and implement contingency plans if required

Qualifications

Basic/Required :

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Journeyman Craftsman level experience or completed Technical Degree
  • 5 or more years experience working in a refinery or industrial plant
  • 2 or more years supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of the proper use of tools and personal protective equipment
  • Knowledge and experience with installation, maintenance trouble shooting, acceptance testing and commissioning of instrument and analyzer equipment in an industrial facility
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID’s, instrument drawings, wiring diagrams, ladder logic and PLC/analyzer configuration programs and vendor manuals
  • Knowledge of instrument safety requirements, including the applicable sections of OSHA 1910 and ANSI/ISA 84.00.01-2004
  • Demonstrated skills to effectively repair instrument and analyzer equipment through hands-on instruction
  • Familiarity with applicable Refining Engineering Practices (REPs)
  • Experience with SAP scheduling, time keeping, maintenance planning, functional locations and requisition/reservation transactions
  • Computer Skills – Working experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Preferred :

  • 10 or more years experience working in a refinery or industrial plant
  • 5 or more years experience as a supervisor
