Description

The Director, Coking Technology, will be the advance technical support to delayed coking operations in the Refining organization. Identify, develop, justify and champion the implementation of improvement opportunities; benchmark processes and procedures; drive best-practice, process-safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities may include :

  • Implementing yield improvement initiatives
  • Identifying opportunities to improve operation, safety, reliability and economics by evaluating units, leading reviews, monthly teleconferences, annual face-to-face conferences and facilitating knowledge sharing
  • Participating in or lead configuration studies, improvement programs and projects
  • Benchmarking technologies, track performance metrics, implement unit monitoring programs and improvement initiatives
  • Defining good operation, develop and implement Best Practices
  • Leveraging network expertise and knowledge
  • Supporting unit engineers with heater decokes and turnaround activities
  • Providing training to engineers and operators
  • Staying current and advance technology improvements in equipment, operating procedures, industry practices, controls, process safety and environmental
  • Consulting with refineries, vendors and R&D on operating issues, improvement projects and new technologies
  • Lead Coking Best Practice Network

Qualifications

Basic/Required :

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering
  • 7 or more years of refining experience
  • Travel 10% to 25% of the time
  • Occasional weekend work for turnaround or special situation assistance
  • 1 or more years of Delayed Coking process experience

Preferred :

  • 3 or more years of operating plant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering
  • Good leadership and influence skills including ability to identify performance gaps, drive improvements, prioritize work and implement change
  • Good oral and written communication skills including organization, presentation and documentation
  • Strong customer and business focus
  • Work well with a team and individually
  • High level of personal motivation and initiative
