Description

The Category Lead will be accountable for the effective management of third-party Maintenance Services spend across a number of related categories throughout the full category management lifecycle. This role will develop category strategies to maximize the total cost of ownership the company receives from third-parties, execute or coordinate the implementation of category strategies and manage supplier performance for continuous improvement, while ensuring business buy in.

The following is a summary of key accountabilities for this position:

  • Lead the Category in:

  • Strategy development and execution [40%]

  • Commercial contract terms development/renegotiation [25%]
  • Supplier/contract management [25%]
  • Capital Projects and Network Support [10%]

Responsibilities may include :

  • Developing and maintaining the category strategy and plans
  • Establishing (with Market Analysis) sources of market intelligence, category supply chain risk factors and reporting of such
  • Setting the category strategy based on data analytics provided by the Market Analysis team such as:
  • Spending analytics

  • Marketing intelligence

  • Costing models
  • Category dashboards including key supplier profiles (financial health/risk factors) and category summaries
  • Negotiating key commercial terms to establish preferred supplier agreements
  • Managing communication to the Procurement organization within the business units at all levels of spend on category issues
  • Managing key supplier relationships and monitors performance for the category
  • Driving Category Council meetings and participation to gain alignment on category strategy with buying, contracting and business stakeholders

Qualifications

Basic/Required :

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5 or more years of category management experience
  • Working knowledge of category management processes, procedures, practices & techniques
  • Ability to understand technical & operational requirements
  • Ability to understand commercial, operational, financial and technical information
  • Proven track record in complex category management, including supply market analysis, category strategy and application of TCO principles

Preferred :

  • Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or relevant discipline
  • Experience planning and executing procurement activities in a refinery, chemical plant or transportation facility
  • Knowledge or firsthand experience with refinery, chemical plant or midstream work processes
  • Category management experience within diverse markets
